The course was commenced in the year 1991. The commerce & management department by its unique, undefeated and relentless effort has turned the eyes of the people Thanjavur district towards Tamil Sangam College. |

We begun the department under the headship of venerable Prof. S.Malaiarasan (1991 -1994) and then comes under the headship of our respected Prof A.M.Krishnamoorhty (1994 – 2012). Now at present the department is under the tutelage of our respected Prof.Dr.F.Elayaraja, (since 2012 – till date) the head of the department, who motivate us in all our achievements and still encouraging all the students of the department to achieve more in all the future also. |

With the help of the commerce and management departments a large number of students have attained university ranks and won many prices in sports also. The department has also conducted many awareness programs on consumer protection, health hygiene and safety transport etc… |

A part of our college is the department of commerce and management. This department was being commenced in the academic year 1990 -1991. With the help of enthusiastic and intelligent faculties it has achieved so many academic achievements. With its numerous practical applications, knowledge of commerce and management is immensely helpful for the students in securing good job opportunities as well as in pursuing higher studies. The faculties members provide reference lists to the students from time to time to improve and update their knowledge regarding current issues .Students are motivated to read beyond the parameters of their syllabus. |

A part and a parcel of commerce is the management Department. It has its opening in the academic year 2004 -2005. It produces so many rank holders from the inception with the help of dedicated faculties. They are also encouraged to participate in various activities and achievements of the department. They conquered many prizes in the cultural meets of various colleges. |

The Department of Commerce and management boasts of its two exclusive libraries that is central library and department library The Undergraduate department library has a varied collection of books to serve the students. The library was facilitated with a spacious hall and the books are well catalogued. The computerized catalogues in the central library facilitate easy access to the library users. |
